Thank you for volunteering for the 2024 Walk A Mile in Their Shoes Muskoka! We would not be able to run this event without our volunteers! 

We ask that volunteers be no younger than 13 and be entering into Grade 9 by the fall of 2024.
Community Hours can be collected. Please bring your community involvement form if you require your hours to be signed off. 

Walk a Mile is happening on Sunday, September 29th in Memorial Park in downtown Bracebridge

Listed below are the available jobs and shift times  Each job has an associated description providing some information about the associated tasks.

Please check-in 10 minutes before your shift starts.   

To register to volunteer, check the box of the job and shift time (or times) you are interested in. Then enter the name of the volunteer and contact information to be best reached at. Lastly, please read through and accept the Terms and Conditions, which include a code of conduct, waiver, and confidentiality agreement. After registering you will receive a confirmation message with additional information.

Terms & Conditions

YWCA Muskoka & Muskoka Pride reserves the right to select volunteers based on suitability for the tasks involved. Volunteers may be required to take some training to make sure they are well prepared and supported. All volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer confidentiality agreement.

CODE OF CONDUCT:
YWCA Muskoka & Muskoka Pride expects volunteers and participants to abide by the following:
-use respectful language
-No aggressive behaviour
-No public intoxication, smoking, or vaping
-Conduct themselves in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code
-Conduct myself with courtesy, dignity and consideration.
-Be punctual
-Maintain the oath of confidentiality
-Be aware at all times that I represent YWCA Muskoka & Muskoka Pride in the community

WAIVER:

I acknowledge and understand the following as it relates to COVID-19:
1. Participation includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist;
2. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19.
3. I acknowledge and understand COVID -19 as an assumed risk and release YWCA Muskoka, Muskoka Pride, and the Town of Bracebridge, its agents, officers, elected officials, volunteers, employees and those form whom it is legally responsible.

In consideration for being permitted to participate in this Event, I, for myself and for anyone entitled to act on my behalf, hereby waive and release, from any and all claims for injuries, illness and damages I may have arising out of the Event or my participation in the Event, YWCA Muskoka, Muskoka Pride, the Town of Bracebridge, its agents, officers, elected officials, volunteers, employees and those for whom it is legally responsible, any beneficiaries, sponsors, officials, participating clubs, communities, organizations, friends of the Event, agency partners, consultants, participants, third-party vendors, government or public entities (including, without limitation, the Department of Transportation), and each of their respective affiliates, successors, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, and representatives, including, without limitation, the Event medical sponsor, medical director, and members of the medical team.

I intend by this Waiver and Release, in advance, to waive my rights, to covenant not to sue to release for future claims, and to discharge all of the persons and entities mentioned above, from any and all loss or damage, including, but not limited to claims for damages for death, personal injury or property damage that I may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a result of my participation in all or any portion of this Event, even though that liability may arise from negligence, carelessness, or recklessness (whether simple or gross) on the part of the persons or entities being released, from dangerous or defective property or equipment owned,
maintained, or controlled by them or because of their possible liability without fault.

I agree that my participation in the Event is subject to the sole discretion of the organizers of the Event, and that my participation may be limited or terminated, with or without cause.

I give permission to YWCA Muskoka & Muskoka Pride, subsidiaries and agents, photograph, voice, or likeness, in any broadcast, telecast, advertising promotion, or other account of this Event or marketing or promotion for future or similar events, and waive any rights of privacy I may have in that regard, and I understand and consent that I will periodically be receiving communications related to my participation in the Event.

IF I DO NOT WANT MY PHOTO TO BE TAKEN, I WILL COMMUNICATE TO THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR AND AGREE TO WEAR A "NO PHOTO" PIN.

THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE SHALL BE INTERPRETED AND THE RIGHTS OF THE PARTIES DETERMINED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO. THE ONTARIO COURTS SHALL HAVE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION FOR ANY DISPUTE ARISING UNDER, OR PERTAINING TO, THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE.



CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT:
I will keep any matter confidential that should come to my attention as a result of carrying out my activities as a volunteer of YWCA Muskoka & Muskoka Pride in terms of any personal or private information involving anyone associated with YWCA Muskoka & Muskoka Pride (this includes staff, members, the Board of Directors, volunteers and sponsors) or any sensitive information regarding the organizations.

I do hereby certify that I am aware of the issues of confidentiality in volunteering with Walk A Mile, including my obligation to continue to protect such confidentiality after I cease to carry out my duties.
